First NBA Prediction...

Okay so it's time for me to make a few predictions before the season starts up.

Let's start with one that I have recently seen tossed about over the net. Rookie of the Year. Now I understand there are plenty rookies that came into the league this year that will be placed in a position to make a BIG difference for their team. However I'm going to narrow it down to those that I realistically think have a shot at it. Greg Oden of the Portland Trailblazers, Michael Beasley of the Miami Heat, OJ Mayo of the Memphis Grizzlies and Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls.

Now let just right off the bat eliminate OJ Mayo. Quite frankly he's on a team with 6 rookies, his division has Dallas, Houston, San Antonio & New Orleans in it. That all equals up to NO PLAYOFFS for him this year. Memphis has 22 wins last season the next team in their division had 51 wins. He won't be lifting them up by 30 wins this year. So he's out.

Now let get to the realistic candidates. Michael Beasley plays on the Heat and I do believe they can and will make the playoffs this season. Unfortunately for him I believe their success will have more to do with a healthy Wade. I believe he can put up good numbers and be an great impact player but just don't see him winning ROY.

Oden and Rose are my favorites going into the season. Because both play on teams that are 1 player away from moving to that next level, of being a legitimate playoff team year in and year out. Defensively Oden is going to be an impact player for the Blazers and with Roy and the others around him I believe this team is going to break into the playoffs this season. They are competing with Denver and Utah which I think talent wise they can and will compete and their success will be to the credit of Oden.

Rose is another player that is going to be a direct impact on his team. His play making and creativity with the ball is going to allow players like Deng and Gordon to spot up and take good shots. They won't have to create off the dribble as much as they have in the past. This will also open the post game where Chicago still needs help but even still Thomas and Gooden should be able to expand their game a little more with a play maker on the floor. Bulls are back in the playoffs this season and of course Rose will be given credit for their success.

In the end I have a toss up between Rose and Oden, if I have to pick I will say Rose, specially since he's a home town product.
